Monday, September 29th, 2008
The Syracuse Center of Excellence presented the 8th Annual Symposium on Environmental and Energy Systems, which included panel discussions and speaker presentations from many industry experts. From the Clean & Renewable Energy Track, Dr. Ken Visser of Clarkson University presented Wind Energy R&D, featuring WIND TAMER Turbines. Dr. Visser summarized the testing and design refinement that he is heading up with his team, and outlined some of the development details with WIND TAMER Turbines. He also discussed areas of focus in small wind research, including maximizing energy extraction at lower wind speeds, reducing cut-in speeds and keeping up performance, reducing noise, and improving cost per kilowatt hour.
